Sometimes as adults, we expect kids to understand their emotions and what to do with them. The truth is, like learning to talk, walk, count etc. understanding your emotions is something you have to learn.
EMOTION COACHING
As our kids become overwhelmed with emotions we need to coach them through and give them the skills to problem solve solutions. Kids don’t need us to give them the answers all the time but they do need our support.
BEHAVIOUR IS AN UNMET NEED
All kids have difficult behaviours. It’s important to understand that these behaviours are not simply to annoy us or to make our life difficult (no matter how much it feels like it), there will always be an unmet need that is underpinning the behaviour
